LANARK COUNTY OPP DETACHMENT WEEKLY NEWS

(LANARK COUNTY, ON) – Between Monday, August 16, 2021 and Monday, August 23, 2021 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 404 calls for service. 

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions

Total:      26

Vs Deer: 1

Parking Lots: 6

Single Motor Vehicle off Road (“in ditch”): 8

Vs coyote: 1

Impaired Driving

On August 20, 2021 Kevin KOOPS, age 43, of Beckwith Township, was charged with one count each of operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs, Dangerous Operation and Failure or Refusal to comply with demand as the result of a traffic complaint on Beckwith Street in Carleton Place. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on October 18, 2021.

On August 22, 2021 Shawn SHKUDA, age 42, of Drummond-North Elmsley Township, was charged with one count each of operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs and  operation while impaired – BAC over 80 as the result of an investigation into a single vehicle collision on Markle Road in Lanark Highlands Township. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on September 27, 2021.

Domestic Incidents

On August 19, 2021 a 39yr old resident of Perth was charged with one count each of spousal assault and break and enter a dwelling as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on September 27, 2021.

On August 22, 2021 a 45yr old resident of the City of Ottawa was charged with one count each of uttering threats and spousal assault and two counts of mischief under $5000 as the result of a domestic investigation in Drummond-North Elmsley Township. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on October 18, 2021.

The Lanark County OPP also investigated 18 non-criminal domestic disputes during this week.

Thefts

Officers of the Lanark County OPP investigated 22 theft complaints during the past week.

Frauds

The Lanark County OPP received 2 reports of fraud this week.
